Cocktails with Nachtmann
This soul-warming winter negroni recipe will make your cocktail indulgence a little more season-appropriate during the cooler months. Enjoyable and simple to make, it delivers the perfect combination of comfort and fun.
It can be nice to vary your cocktail recipes, but coming up with entirely new ideas out of the blue can be a gamble. Sometimes, all you need to refresh your palate and mind while sticking to the core components of some of your favorite cocktails is the odd change to some of the classics.
This cocktail utilizes cranberries - the quintessential wintertime fruit - to deliver a seasonal touch of sweetness to the traditional negroni recipe. Once you've made your cocktail, adding some charred orange gives some extra warmth to a cocktail at a time of year when it is very much needed.
If you want to make your cranberry syrup at home rather than buying some, it's pretty simple to do. You'll need:
Add all ingredients to a pan and bring to a gentle boil while mixing well. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to help the sugar dissolve and the cranberries to break down properly. After 10 minutes, take the syrup off the heat, allow it to cool for a further 10 minutes, then strain it into a clean, airtight jar and refrigerate. Store for up to two weeks.
Like a traditional negroni, this cocktail is best enjoyed from an old fashioned glass (also known as a rocks glass, a lowball glass, or even a whisky tumbler). The compact design of an old fashioned glass makes it well-sized for spirit-forward cocktails like the negroni and ideal for accommodating ice - which negronis are most commonly served over to keep them chilled after serving. Our Nachtmann Noblesse Single Old Fashioned Glass, or one of our many Nachtmann whisky tumblers, are perfect options for serving your winter negroni.
